Pewter Trooper Leather MC Mask by Epic-Leather Pewter Trooper Leather MC Mask by Epic-Leather
Pewter Leather Steampunk Trooper Motorcycle Mask

Inspired by the Steampunk Movement and Star Wars

This Original Riding Mask is hand crafted and molded from sturdy 8/9 oz Veg Tan Leather. The black leather behind the grill is softer 5oz Oiled Leather. The leather has been sealed to provide some water resistance. Lined on the inside is foam with suede leather wrapped around to provide comfort and protection during your ride, as well as an adjustable strap to fit to your face. Unlike many other masks, the strap is riveted into place with high quality 5 oz Leather and Buckle, so you don't have to worry about tying or undoing any knots. One size fits most and being as it is made from leather there is some flexibility.

Kudos on the achieved look! This really reminds me of the old school Battlestar Galactica for some reason :D

I'm a sucker for acrylics myself, although I will use dyes when I don't feel like doing multiple coats of paint.

lol thanks! yeah I was surprised how much it actually looked like metal, I had never used acrylic leather paint before, this was a custom request so it was an experiment, but I'm really happy with the results, gonna have to play around with them some more. I like the oil based dyes still, but I should be able to have more control with this medium.

Paints have that advantage in that they don't bleed but, like you, I prefer dyes because they will last longer because they penetrate the leather. Paints are available in more colors, however ( like metallics)and If sealed properly, probably quit durable as well. I think a combination of paints and dyes make for some really cool effects. You did a great job on this one, my friend.

Nope, I used Lumiere Acrylic Paint for this one, first time using acrylics on leather, I gotta say I was impressed with the results. ^^

cool. In my experience Acrylics tend to crack on tention unless mixed with something else. I hope this will not happen on your project. it is really nice... makes me want to buy a motorcycle just to ride with one of these ;)

lol well they are alot of fun. I do too, this one seemed to be different than other acrylics ive used in past, almost an oily consistancy, but who knows. =P
